before on Wednesday, Israel's defence minister Israel Katz  blazoned that Khatib had been"  excluded" in an Israeli strike on Tehran.

" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I've authorised the IDF to  exclude any  elderly Iranian functionary for whom the intelligence and  functional circle has been closed, without the need for  fresh  blessing," he said.

Khatib was appointed as Iran's defence minister by the late former  chairman, Ebrahim Raisi, in 2021.

He studied Islamic justice under several high- ranking  ministers, including Khamenei, and held  colorful  elderly posts in the ministry of intelligence and Office of the Supreme Leader.

He was sanctioned by the US Treasury for his  part as head of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence for" engaging incyber-enabled conditioning against the United States and its abettors " in 2022.
